Aparaaditehas isn’t just a building. It’s a rapidly developing area in Tartu’s Vaksali district – the Aparaaditehas quarter.
In addition to the main building of Aparaaditehas at Kastani 42, Kultuuritehased OÜ’s development projects also include the TYPA Centre (Kastani 48f), Le Garage (Kastani 64a) – a hub for creative economy enterprises – and the Tartu Art School’s educational building (Kastani 50).
The developers of the neighborhood aim to create a people-friendly living and working environment in the area. To that end, new steps are being taken: construction of a modern apartment building at Kastani 48e will begin soon. The building has been named after Johannes Gutenberg, the house cat of the Aparaaditehas!

And that’s not all! New developments are expected in the near future, centered on the repurposing of the former industrial buildings in the Aparaaditehas quarter and the transformation of the “non-places” between the buildings into parks, playgrounds, and café terraces.
Stay tuned – the Aparaaditehas Quarter continues to grow!
