Aparaaditehas Cultural Platform 2026

The size and diversity of the factory mean that there are suitable venues here for a wide variety of events, ranging from large festivals to small niche events.

Aparaaditehas is often approached with enquiries about venue hire linked to exciting ideas for organising various cultural events, but these ideas often end up falling by the wayside due to a lack of funds or other resources. We are, however, delighted to see such ideas come to fruition and believe that Aparaaditehas can offer versatile support in this regard. We believe that such a platform will significantly revitalise Tartu’s cultural life, provide an excellent performance or organisational experience for many people embarking on their creative endeavours, and offer exciting and varied entertainment to a very wide audience.

The Aparaaditehas Cultural Platform is, first and foremost, a public call aimed at young and emerging artists and cultural organisers to organise their own cultural event at Aparaaditehas, be it a one-off event (a concert, party, sporting event, theme day, festival, etc.), an exhibition or installation, or a series of events (a lecture series, performances, etc.). Based on the ideas submitted, a selection committee will make the final decision, taking into account the diversity and quality of the programme to be put together.

The creative committee for the seventh season of the cultural platform comprises Erki Pruul, Managing Director of Aparaaditehas; Karmen Otu, Programme Director at Aparaaditehas; Stina Leek, cultural organiser, artist and leader of the Ajuokse art collective; Stella Mõttus, curator at the Tartu Art Museum; Jaanus Kaasik, designer and gallery owner; Pärle Punger, programme director at Armastuse Saal; Janetta Lukk, cultural organiser; and Tadeusz Sobczyk, a European Solidarity Corps volunteer at Aparaaditehas.

A special appeal to event organisers!

One of the six projects selected in 2027 will be a party or a series of parties. We want to bring fresh energy and new ideas to Tartu’s nightlife, and we encourage anyone who dreams of organising a unique and exciting party but has so far lacked the opportunities or resources to do so to apply. The event will take place in the Armastuse saal.

Aparaaditehas offers the following
  • Free venues:
    • The multifunctional Armastuse saal
    • The Taskupark and courtyard stage
    • Various inspiring spaces at the Aparaaditehas, which can be used, for example, as exhibition spaces
  • Existing sound and presentation equipment
  • Advice and guidance on organising events
  • Promotion via Aparaaditehas’s channels
  • Facilitating collaboration opportunities between cultural event organisers and creative professionals working at Aparaaditehas
